Curriculum

At ACS Bali, the curriculum will be the Cambridge International Curriculum from Grades 1 to 10 (IGCSE) followed by the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12.

As the diagram shows, ACS Bali will have a similar structure to the Indonesia national system – primary, middle school and high school – except that the middle school at ACS Bali will extend to Grade 10 in order to complete the IGCSE qualification. In the Junior School (Elementary School) from Grades 1 – 6 the curriculum will be the Cambridge International Primary curriculum.

The Senior School is divided into the four-year secondary school programme for Grades 7 – 10 culminating in the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE); followed by the two year high school International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Grades 11 and 12.

Cambridge Primary

Typically for 5 to 11 years olds, is an internationally recognized educational framework developed by the University of Cambridge and used by over 160 countries around the world. As Cambridge says, “this curriculum aims to provide a well-rounded and comprehensive foundation for students, fostering their intellectual and personal development.”

Cambridge IGCSE

It is planned that ACS Bali will also offer the Cambridge International curriculum in the secondary school. The IGCSE is an internationally recognised formal qualification, and the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year-olds. IGCSE graduates at ACS Bali may continue to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12 or join university foundation programmes.

The International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme (IBDP)

ACS Bali will seek authorisation from the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) to offer the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) beginning with the first cohort in August 2027.

The aim of the IBDP will be to enable, equip and empower the students to complete the full Diploma Programme over the two years to develop them to be ready, qualified and accepted for further studies at the university of their choice.

The IBDP is a very rigorous course where even the most academically talented students are fully stretched to capacity.

Each IB student will select six subjects – three and higher level and three at standard level – plus take the Theory of Knowledge subject and write an Extended Essay of 4000 words. They will also participate in a compulsory and holistic CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) programme. This course is the premier pre-college academic programme for international students and it prepares students very well for university study.

ACS (International) students have gained ‘Top in the World’ awards since 2010 in the following subjects: English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Geography, Chinese and Physical Education.

ACS Bali welcomes applications from families looking for an international curriculum in an Asian context, combining academic rigour with a wide-ranging holistic education.
